The Young Woman in The Short Skirt

I just finished reading John Locke’s book, How I sold 1 Million eBooks in 5 Months! If you are serious about being an author and selling books, you need to read this book. I downloaded it on my kindle for only $2.99.

Right away, I saw where I could improve my marketing for my two books, Monroe’s Paranormal Investigations, a collection of zombie, werewolf and vampire stories, and Tale Spinner, a science fiction novel.

In John’s book he gave three examples of blog post that he made which helped him gain sales on Amazon.com. In the first one, he told a story about an incident in a grocery store parking lot where a run away shopping cart threatened to strike a young woman that was putting groceries in her trunk. He yelled for her to watch out and then went running after the cart, only to have the woman he tried to save chew him out and call him bad names. Sometimes even heroes have a bad day. This story reminded me of an incident that happened to me in a grocery store parking lot.

As I was walking across the parking lot toward my car, an extremely attractive young woman in a short, short skirt was walking toward me from the opposite direction. If her skirt had been any shorter, it would have been illegal. A man strolled along a few paces behind her, and I saw him bend over sideways trying to get a peek under the young woman’s skirt. I thought about telling her that some pervert was behind her trying to look up her skirt, but when I past her, I just smiled and said, “Hi.”

I’m throwing this question out to all the guys out there. What kind of guy are you? Would you have bent over sideways trying to get a peek at her panties, or would you have played it cool and admired the view from behind? Are you the kind of guy whose eyes linger too long on a woman’s chest, or legs?

Mike Monroe is the main character in my book, Monroe’s Paranormal Investigations and he is what some might call a chauvinistic pig. He’s not ashamed of it, he embraces it. His partner, Roxanne Delaney, he calls her Roxy, is an ultra-hot blonde with big breasts. She wears her clothes tight, her shirts low cut, and she never wears a bra. Mike can’t keep his hands off her sexy legs and his eyes linger on her chest. When Roxy catches him staring she might say, “What are you looking at Pervert?” Mike just grins and says, “Only you, darling. Only you.”

To you women out there, what kind of woman are you? Do you wear your clothes tight and revealing? How does it make you feel when a guy’s eyes linger too long on your chest or you legs, or when he gives you the once over and you know he’s imaging what you might look like naked? Does it embarrass you and make you angry, or do you enjoy the attention? There are no wrong answers here. I would just like to hear some opinions.

Please leave a comment. I’m not quite as bold as Mike Monroe is. If I had been the guy strolling along behind this woman, I probably wouldn’t have bent over and tried to sneak a peek, but I might have said a silent prayer hoping for a strong gust of wind.

Wow! Excellent Writing! The story grabbed me from the first sentence, I literally couldn’t stop reading it. The characters came to life and were believable with the lust between them and innocence leading into a one night stand. The erotic scene was totally flaming hot and had me crossing my legs to hold down my arousal. Just when I thought this was a great one night stand you throw in a twister that reminded me of life’s reality in general warnings to be afraid of the crazy’s out in the world as it burst my happy ever after bubble and thrust me into horror. Damn, you Hooked, lined, and sinker me. I’m still shaking from the thought of it.

Absolutely superb writing!

Marriages can be trying especially after being married for a long time, however, just when you least expect it life can throw us a curve ball especially when it involves our sexual encounters. Great role playing as a Dom breaking in a new Sub. The characters connection and emotional feelings were captured beautifully and the erotic suspense of the teasing and bursting with frustrated arousal had me anxious for the characters release. The old saying “Save the Best for Last” is definitely the pure guaranteed satisfaction the author leaves us with in a mind blowing climax ending.

Absolutely Magical!

Awesome Short Novella to read for the holiday season. I literally hugged my e-reader and said out loud “AWE!” The characters back grounds were explained just enough to give you an idea of where they were from and how their emotions and feelings were directed from. The erotic love scene is very loving and hot as the characters emotions bloom into love. When true love finds their perfect mate, it is amazing how one’s heart falls fast instantly and grows three sizes right there and then as love sweeps it away just like the Grinch’s heart did.

Captivating and Sensually Moving!

Wow! This novel was such a moving and heart felt story. The story captivated me immediately just from the first paragraph. War is such a horrible time as the South and the North leave pillages of carnage behind in their wake, but that is not the worst of it when one is promised to marriage of one of the soldiers sent off to fight the war along with your childhood best friend who is fighting on opposite side.

What you will find in this story is strength, survival, faithfulness, dedication, betrayal, love, friendship, healing, loneliness, death, and bitter sweet emotion that will take you on a ride between sorrow and bliss.

The connection between Sophia and Gavin is intense with a mixture of love and hate. Their erotic romance scene is sensually hot, tender at times, and wildly rough leaving the reader wonton themselves as the words come alive on the pages and leave vivid images to fantasize about.

I loved the independence of Sophia even through the turmoil she was put through and how she guarded her heart even though a mental blindness of accepting reality. Gavin is the savior every woman dreams of, a man bound by loyalty to follow his best friend’s promise, a man who would give the world to the woman he loves to make her happy, and a man that is resistible and insatiable.

There were times however that I just wanted to reach in and grab Sophia’s shoulders and shake the crap out of her. The drama in the book will definitely have you reeling with emotion as I felt happiness, sorrow, aroused, and even got teary eyed through parts of it.

I cannot forget about the loyalty of the wolf-hound in the story, he was the most trained and brilliant protector throughout the whole story. Also the gypsy’s won my heart immediately with their unconditional kindness and their magical faith of healing.

What can I say, I totally loved it! Definitely a book to keep on the shelf to read over and over again, therefore I highly recommend this historical read for all genre readers and I am truly a fan of Keta Diablo and look forward to reading more of her works.

Wow what a great short 25 page story and boy was the erotic ménage scenes Hot! Hot! Hot! (M-F-M) This was a story were a wife tells her fantasy to her husband but has fear of losing him by telling him the truth of her wishes to be between two men. A story where a husband gives his wife the desire she wants but not in the way you may think. This story was definitely a fast page turner as it had me entranced with the pleasures of the characters.

When Will drops off Blythe in the middle of nowhere and tells her to walk up to the house and just leaves her there, you will think one thing but will be surprised in the end. Especially when he drops her off in a place she can get lost in. “A place to do what you will and have whatever your evil little heart desires. A Virtual garden of forbidden pleasure.”

I loved the surprising ending and loved the smooth writing. I look forward to reading more from this author.

RONDA: OMGwd! Karyn I am so excited you are here to chat with us today; it is such an honor to interview you.

KARYN: Thanks so much Ronda, I am thrilled to be here!

RONDA: Please tell us a little about yourself.
KARYN: Not much to tell really, middle-aged, happily married for a long time. I no longer work and spend my time writing and plotting. I am new to romance, though I am a voracious reader, I only started reading romance five years ago, started writing it two years ago. Guess you can say it's a good fit!
RONDA: I have read two great books of yours here recently “Timeless Heart” and “Black Lust” that I absolutely fell in love with and totally have to ask about both of them. Lets start with Timeless Heart first and then I will ask about Black Lust. Timeless Heart is a Historical Erotica Romance – Time Travel novella, can you tell our viewers a little about it.

KARYN: First off, I am so glad you liked both as they are totally different.
Jerrod Ross is a man from 1821, while traveling in a carriage during a terrible storm, it is struck by lightning and Jerrod finds himself in 2011. He is found by a school teacher on leave, Sandra Cranston. Sandra does the only logical thing when you find a sexy regency hunk in the woods; she bundles him up and whisks him home! The chasm of time stands between them, can they risk it all for love?
RONDA: I thought this was such a beautiful story. Was there someone or something that inspired you to write about time-travel?
KARYN: I always loved time travel movies and books. I will confess this idea sprang from a dream I had when I was a teenager (long time ago!) I had watched a BCC costume drama and had a terrible crush on the lead actor. That night, I had a dream he (the regency character) came back in time. I just went with that and ran with it.
RONDA: Both characters Sandra and Jerrod were very passionate towards their feelings and I thought it was very neat how love can conquer a decision between the pro’s and the con’s of returning back the time period one came from. Have you ever thought about if you were put in that situation what you would do? Would you drop everything and risk everything to be with the one you loved?
KARYN: I asked the question a few times on my blog visits, just about everyone said, 'love or no, hunk or no, I can't give up flush toilets and my Ipad.' Would I? The sentimental romantic in me hopes I would. When I was younger, in a heartbeat. I would have to really think about it now!
RONDA: Now on to your new release “Black Lust” which is a paranormal erotic romance novella. Can you tell our viewers a little about it?

KARYN: I always loved the paranormal aspect. I also know everything has been done. So it was a challenge to come up with my own twist in the mythology. The hero Lucius Black is a Quarter, he is one-quarter vampire. He has been a goth party boy for decades and its wearing thin. He meets an ordinary hairdresser and sparks fly on both ends. Lucius and Trevina are swept up into a situation involving Lucius cousin, Wolfram. It has a little suspense, romance, erotic and otherwise.
RONDA: I totally ate this story up because of the world building into the Shadow World. You’ve added a little twist to being a were-wolf. Can you tell us about the three Hierarchies?
KARYN: “There are three types of Wolfen creatures in the Shadow World. At the top of the Hierarchy are Thropes, wolf shape-shifters.” “Below them is Lycans. They are rare and nearly extinct. They also wolf shape-shifters but have Were tendencies, such as shifting into a Were during the new moon. Then there is us, the Weres. We turn during the full moon. We are the serfs to the other two, the drones.
My paranormal characters can be a little of everything. Wolfram for example was born a Dhampyre (half-vampire) but in the 1930's was bitten by a Thrope and now turns into a Were during the full moon. Only a Thrope can make a Were. You kind of worry when you create a world like this you are shoving too much information in the story, but it is needed when creating a mythology. Thropes are arrogant; they believe themselves the elite of the Wolfen creatures. Weres are at the bottom and treated as such.
RONDA: The passion and desire between the characters were so intense that I have a hard time deciding which pair i.e.… Wolfram & Jessilynn and Lucius & Trevina, I loved the best. Is there a special favorite for you?
KARYN: When you sit down to write, sometime you are amazed how sometimes the secondary characters can be almost as important and interesting as the hero and heroine. Wolfram and Jessilynn became that for me. I was afraid they were overtaking the story, but as my hubby pointed out, 'it's more characters to love.' Also, I left it open so if someday I want to revisit Wolfram, I can. I liked them both, though I think Wolfram was a little more tortured and I admit, I loved tortured guys, especially in a paranormal.
RONDA: Both stories were so good. Can you tell us what you may be working on next? Can we expect more from either book? Please say Yes!

KARYN: Well, right now I am editing a sequel to Timeless Heart. I hope to submit it in a few weeks and then fingers crossed it is accepted. I already have the two sequels written for this paranormal, one is about Tristan, Lucius Dhampyre father the other about Deegan, Lucius pure-blood grandfather. They are not ready for submission as yet. I will say Thropes figure prominently in both stories.
I also have a release with Silver Publishing December 18th, called CHRISTMAS MEMORIES. It is a sweet, sexy Xmas contemporary short story.

Purring-ly Fantastic!

Wow, I loved it! I wanted this story to last forever. I literally couldn’t put this book down and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The writing is superb and smooth as it makes you feel like you are one with the characters. The connection between Sakaria (Kitty Cat) and Desmond (human) is so sweet and the erotic scenes are steaming hot.

I loved how the plot started where Sakaria receives a letter from a one-time date that curses her to be a cat and then from page 31 it describes how the curse could be removed. “In order to break the curse, a man has to break the spell. He has to be in love with your, like, inner essence. Then he’ll like, know you in your cat form and call you by your totally sexy name Saaaa-kaaaa-riiiia.”

This story had me glued to the pages and was so interesting as the drama unfolded and I found it very humorous and cute throughout the whole story. I loved Sakaria, her roll becoming a cat was well described and entwining the cat traits while in human form was hilarious. With the excellent happy ever after ending it made me want to be a cat too - LOL

Cute & Sexy Hot Read!

This was such a cute and fun read; I think I smiled all the way throughout the book. The characters connection was perfect as it showed a close friendship between the King Kabril and his loyal old friend and advisor “Sachin” as well as creating the friendship between Kabril and his future mate Rayna (human).

The romance between Kabril and Rayna grew sweetly with friendship and trust; and I loved how the relationship developed into an undeniable attraction between the two. The erotic scenes were so hot and steamy and I about come undone when Kabril ravaged Rayna’s body in the air using his magic and wings. It literally made me want to seek my own release. LOL

The ending has a great HEA leaving me wanting more of the story and the characters especially since some little Buteos Regalis were in the oven. That nice little surprise at the end was cute and sweet. I also want to mention that the cover to this book is absolutely beautiful.

RONDA: Please tell our viewers a little about yourself.
NATASHA: I am married to a wonderful guy. I am a total history nerd, I love to read. I love literature, romance, psychology, and bits of everything else. I love cats and I live with a very neurotic but sweet calico.

I spend most of my day surrounded by music. I like Baroque and Classical, Old School R&B, New Wave, Soft Rock from 70&80s, Baroque Pop, 90s jazz-funk/dance, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, disco and funk, oldies from the 40s-60s, Reggae, Folk, Blue Grass, old style country and western. Mostly when it comes to music I like it all. It really just depends on my mood.

I don’t watch much TV but I do enjoy watching period movies on Netflix, British Comedies or series like Dark Shadows, Twin Peaks or original series Star Trek. I like all genres of emotional, character-driven movies. I have been into a real Film Noir phase lately. Most of the time, I am writing or researching for the writing.

RONDA: I have had the great pleasure to read your new release Grey’s Lady and I am absolutely thrilled to say that I totally loved it. You have renewed my passion for reading historical reads. Can you give our viewers a little insight into Grey’s Lady?

NATASHA: I had done a lot of research, intending to write a very different story with another heroine. I was writing away at a scene about the hero and his backstory. He shows me this moment in the Philadelphia bookseller’s when he made eye contact with this woman who had sad eyes. He’s pierced by her look, flooded by his own emotions. He is a person who prefers to avoid emotion in himself and others. He’d like to run. But he can’t look away. She came closer to him and engaged him in a very bold way. A way he couldn’t possibly ignore. There was no escape from the feelings she evoked in him.

He understood why she wanted what she wanted from him. She uses sex just the same as he does— as a way to escape the boredom and bleakness of the life that each of them feels they are resigned to. They both also use sex as a way to keep their relationships with the opposite sex under control. She uses her beauty and sexual allure. He uses his wealth and sexual skill. But they both like to be the one in control.

When they meet and come together, they find they can no longer be in control. The feelings they have control them and this is a new and scary experience for them both. It’s a secret affair. Even if it wasn’t, being as self-protective as they are, neither of them has a confidant. They have to go through this new experience alone yet together. RONDA: I applaud you for adding erotica into your historical read, most authors shy away from it and just leave the book a little steamy but your book is Sizzling Hot. What inspired you to take the plunge to add the erotic into your book?

NATASHA: I am in love with history. It is the humanity of historical people that draws me. Not their highest achievement but the life of their hearts. Their little human imperfections and blind spots. The things they wanted most but could not have and how they dealt with that. Their sorrows and their joys. I enjoy exploring history at a very personal level. I enjoy reading biographies, letters, diaries and things like this.

There are some very passionate stories from this time in real history told through letters and other personal accounts. Sometimes so little is said but the words choosen are so powerful that emotion leaks in between the lines. In reading their stories, I begin to feel so deeply for these people. So for me, it’s really a natural thing to go into a deeply personal type of storytelling about the periods of history that interest me the most. And what is more personal than erotic love? Especially if is erotic love that is able to break through people’s self defenses and bring real change into their lives.

RONDA: I loved the bantering between the characters “Beth & Grey”. Beth is such an independent feisty female and Grey is a gentleman to the end. Most women in historical’s submit to the dominance of a male but not your character Beth. What inspired you to write Beth’s character to be so stronger willed?

NATASHA: I wrote Beth purely as Grey showed her to me. He showed me this whole story. I had something else in mind but he persuaded me to see that my way just wouldn’t have worked for him. He would never have been able to forget Beth. He would never have been able to love anyone else.

I just loved all those New England merchants and patriots that I read about in the 18th and early 19th centuries. I really enjoyed working with Grey’s character.

In Grey’s Lady, Beth thinks she can never have the type of man who really excites her, a handsome, powerful, dynamic gentleman. She won’t settle for less. So she thinks she has to forego marriage and children and she makes peace by helping her half-siblings and their children. She’s really very devoted and giving in this way. Maybe too much so. But it is not enough for her and so she makes this secret life for herself. She seeks out short-term relationships with gentlemen where she decides who, when, where and for how long. This way, she feels she has always the power.

In reality these gentlemen have vast wealth and social power compared to her. She can’t ever forget that even though their very wealth and power is what draws her and fascinates her. She’s determined she will remain the one who is in control over what happens in their liaison. She loves them once and leaves them burning.

With Grey, she cannot resist her continued and growing attraction. She’s no longer in control over the liaison. This really brings out a defiant, resistant side to her. However, over the course of her interaction with Grey, she begins to see she just might be able to have what she wants most of all. And to her surprise it’s not to be the wife of a wealthy, powerful gentleman. It’s to be the beloved of the man she sees inside of him. It requires a real leap of faith and change within her to get to this point. It’s also going to require her to find a way to reconcile her secret life with her everyday life.

RONDA: Grey’s Lady is the start of the series “Carte Blanche”, will we see more of Grey and Beth in the next book?
NATASHA: Yes. The focus of Grey’s Lady is on the immediate interaction between two wounded and self-protective people who feel an overpowering attraction to each other but who do not want to admit it to themselves or the other. Beth and Grey have unique insight into the experiences of each other and can offer each other understanding and empathy that others could not.

Yet past experience works against them. Both are conditioned to fear emotional exposure and to deny their own need for love. What makes them feel empathy for each other is also what may tear them apart forever.

Both suffered isolation and emotional neglect in childhood. The product of an adulterous affair, Beth grew up in the home of her late mother’s employer. Separated from her half-siblings and kept at an emotional distance, she felt lost and alone. At age eighteen, she was seduced and betrayed by a trusted wealthy gentleman. After this, she left her benefactress’s home, went to live with her half-siblings and to help them in their struggling shop. Yet, she still feels out of place.

Grey grew up in an upper-class household, a privileged only son, heir to Sexton Shipping, one of the fledging nation’s largest mercantile fleets. Grey’s father was a stern businessman who did not understand his daydreaming, intellectually curious son. A child in this position might take solace in a closer relationship with his mother. Later, Grey engaged in an emotionally scarring experience with a slightly older woman, something that is not covered in Grey’s Lady.

Grey and Beth’s growing relationship is the focus of White Lace and Promises. How their backstory issues and their different worlds affect and threaten their coming together fully is explored in depth. White Lace and Promises is scheduled for release Dec. 26, 2011.

RONDA: Can you tell us what you will be working on next or when we can expect the next book in the series to come out?
NATASHA: The third book in the Carte Blanche series is a full-length novel titled Alex’s Angel and it takes place in Philadelphia in 1793. The heroine is a young woman who has been sheltered. She’s artistic, a bit a crusader, very sensual and strong-minded with very definite ideas about her art. It’s a very erotic and emotional story, a little darker than Grey’s Lady. It is scheduled for release on February 28, 2012. Here is a short blurb: In the wake of a devastating epidemic, sheltered Emily Eliot finds herself alone, making her own decisions for the first time. When desperation leads her to sell her virtue, she walks straight into trouble.

Enter one gorgeous, golden haired gentleman bent on protecting her…Alexander Dalton came to the Blue Duck Tavern seeking to lose himself in sexual pleasure. If you could live in any time period which would it be? - The 18th Century but only if I can be really, really healthy, lol.
If you wanted to choose a supernatural character to write about which one would it be and would you still have the time line set in an historical atmosphere? - A witch and yes, always in an historical timeline.
Favorite Movie? - When I think about this question, it is always so hard to answer. I have so many favorites in different genres. I always think the movie The Best Years of Our Lives is a good movie for Christmas and the holidays. To me, it is such a powerful, emotional movie that really makes me think hard about what’s most important in life. In my opinion, it’s about real love shared between real people. Giant is also great movie. The Misfits. Snow Falling on Cedars. Black Robe. The Age of Innocence. Girl With The Pearl Earring. The Bounty, Master and Commander. These are examples of some of the movies that come to mind.
Favorite Actor/Actress? - I always admired Audrey Hepburn.
Best book you ever read? - Again, this is really hard. There are so many, for such different reasons. I cannot answer.
Favorite Author? – Emily Bronte
Favorite Genre to read? - Historical Romance, next favorite Gothic Romance. I like to read non-fiction history books, especially social history with a heavy emphasis on personal accounts from the times.

WOW! This is one hard core BDSM story where Dom Jack has a strange way of expressing his true feelings of love outside his roll of being a Dom. Callie is a true Sub who loves and wants Jack but only if she can have all of him instead of just the role playing in a BDSM relationship.

The story is very explicit and the connection between the characters is very cold and distance at times as the dominance takes the willing submissive partner as if playing head games to get the point across of dominance. The writing is smooth and as you read you can tell the author did a lot of research into the BDSM world as some of the sexual acts and exhibiting of the Dom’s Sub in front of a crowd is displayed. The author did a great job at capturing both rolls between the characters.

For those who love the hard core BDSM you will get your fill of Blind Folds, hand cuffs, cock gag, straps, snowflake nipple shields, vibrator, clothespins, mini-crops, leather crops, spreader bars, suspension apparatus, chaining through D-Ring, anal plugs, spankings, anal entry, fingering, licking, candy cane sex, rough intercourse and collaring.

I do not know a lot about the BDSM world but after reading this hot book I feel my knowledge has expanded and am in total awe and appalled at some of the acts but all I got to say is “To Each’s own and whatever floats your boat - LOL”. Don’t get me wrong, I like the mild BDSM but this was a whole new perspective to me and just WOW!

There was more than just the acts of BDSM in the story as the author gave us a happy ever after plot of what both characters Jack and Callie really wanted all along in the end – Love, marriage, children, and white picket fences is always a dream; however finding the right person to have those things with is always the challenge held within one’s future, we just have to risk everything and reach out and take it before it passes us by.

Wow, there is nothing hotter than athletic men especially when they are two buffed Hockey players. The story’s plot is well written to show the drama of struggles and conflicts of entering a ménage relationship and to top it off, a great perspective from both sides of the relationship where the Hockey players “Leo and Scott” have to deal with fame and political issues from their careers as well as the female “Kelly” who owns a successful restaurant. The author truly captured the emotions between the three as they experienced the stressors of dealing with their careers and how society accepted a ménage and whether they would let it control their lives.

This was an awesome fast quick short read that is exploding hot! The smooth writing comes alive and fills you with images of the threesome enjoying each other with double entry, blowing, sucking, eating, and tender sweet embraces that will assault your brain and take you over the edge sexually just by reading these scenes.

I loved the characters and found them humorous at times with the banter going on between them. I got so wrapped up in the story that I felt the emotion of each character and at one point was ready myself to jump in and kick some serious AZZZ – LOL – especially when Leo gave a reporter a knuckle upside his nose; I was truly cheering him on.

The happy ever after ending was great leaving you with hope for the threesome in the future. I definitely will be reading more of this author’s work.

I love December in Southern California. Hate it on the East Coast. I grew up dealing with winter and hating every minute of it. The holidays make November thru December almost tolerable. I said almost. True, I do miss Christmas Eve with my family and all the fantastic excitement, food and revelry with friends but I have my memories and they suffice.

My last winter on the East Coast before I moved to California really sealed the deal of my departure from the snow and ice. I was living in Boston, it was my final semester in college, and I had taken an afternoon off to go hit Newbury Street for some new shoes and wander around.

It was April. If you haven’t been to Newbury Street I will tell you most the stores are below street level, you have to walk down a flight of stairs to get to them. I left the street and made my way down a flight of stairs to my favorite shoe store, Aldo. It was sunny but cold and I remember it being gray out but not winter gray, it was an early spring gray. There is a difference. When you live with four seasons, you become an amateur meteorologist. A six year old on the street knows the weather forecast.

Aldo offered up a pair of black loafers and I, thinking more of my own personal style instead of the seasonal directive decided to wear my new shoes out of the store. When I got to the top of the stairs, the world had gone from chilly spring to the death chill of winter. It was snowing so hard you couldn’t see across the street. That was it, done, done done! I think I screamed an obscenity or two up into the swirling flakes. The snow paid me little attention.

“Hey, this is Boston bub, what’d ya expect?” The snow seemed to ask as it melted in my hair.
I moved to Los Angeles in August on a whim, a dare and with little more than what my Saturn could hold. I didn’t care about earthquakes, floods, fires or riots. I’d rather plummet into the Earth warm then freeze through the months long hell of the East Coast. Did you know the suicide rate doubles in the winter back East? Believe me, there isn’t much more to do after you’ve been trapped indoors for weeks on end.

The funny thing is I LOVE Los Angeles in December. It’s my favorite month out here. I think the weather is perfect and there is something festive about L.A. at Christmas time. It isn’t magical like Boston during the holidays or New York but there is something and that something makes it wonderful. I particularly like driving through Beverly Hills during Christmas. Maybe it is a chic-ness or a newness Los Angeles brings to the table. I feel refreshed here in December. I don’t feel leaden or worried about the dread months ahead. I will admit January is disgusting no matter where you live. It’s rainy and gross here and it’s like eternal darkness and negative temperatures back East. That month has everyone by the balls and enjoys it.

My first Christmas in Los Angeles, (you would think I would have been homesick) Not so! I managed to land a job as an Event Coordinator for a very fancy catering company in Beverly Hills and ended up spending Christmas Eve at the home of a very well known and legendary television producer. I rarely went to events but this time, considering the client I had to go and see the house. It was beyond amazing. Three massive Christmas trees, a ton of delicious food (which barely anyone ate) and a piano player with accompanying carolers, it was a beautiful Christmas party, sadly I don’t think the people throwing it could have cared less for all the wonder and holiday excess around them. All I did was make sure the Cristal kept flowing and the goose liver pate was never empty, (which it never was, because no one ate but tiny little bites) this was after all L.A.

I found an old journal entry from that Christmas Eve in 1998. I thought I’d share a snippet. I can’t share EVERYTHING, I must protect the non-eating and spoiled Hollywood rats and brats, it’s called manners.

So here goes:

Eve at The Ivy—Lemon/White Chocolate Doesn’t suck! Enough about Sugar Plum bars already. Damn! It’s now Xmas Eve 98’ and I have concerns. We are catering so and so s Christmas Eve party. I said I would go and play bartender just to see the house. I encountered my 1st Croquembouche today. $80 cream puffs. Hey! I paid the ticket in Utah!

I could go on but from there it gets sticky. But you should know I am now allowed back into the state of Utah and all went well with the croquembouche and sugar plum bars. You really have to imagine me driving around with a cream puff tower in the front seat of my poor Saturn. Sticky indeed.

The Birches

He pulled into the parking lot of The Birches and sat on his bike a minute. He felt nervous, like he was about to meet a celebrity and the self-doubt that plagued him made him queasy.

“You gonna sit outside or come in?”
Leo jumped at the sound of the man’s voice. He pulled his helmet off and looked around, but didn’t see anyone.

“Over here.”
Leo looked just past his left shoulder and saw a man emerging from the nearby woods that surrounded the little restaurant.

“Oh, hey,” Leo called out, his voice cracking.

“You looking for something to eat?” the man asked, coming closer.
Leo was shocked to find himself riveted to the spot, staring at the man who came towards him.

The man offered Leo a rough, calloused hand. “I’m Dock,”

“Hey,” Leo managed weakly.

“I was out back, picking blackberries, they grow wild around here. I thought they’d make a great dessert. Don’t know what kind of dessert, but how can you go wrong when you have stuff like this?”
He said as he offered up a large, wooden bucket half-full of dark, purple black berries.

There were purple smears across Dock’s white tank top that seemed barely able to contain Dock’s impressive chest. There were several brown freckles on Dock’s shoulders, next to where the strap of tank top clung to his body.

“Lucky berries,” Leo said under his breath.

“What?”

Sweat ran down Leo’s back, he felt so nervous. For a brief moment, he thought of hopping on his bike and taking off. Instead he said, “Um, nothing, sorry, I just wanted to come by and--”

“You want to come inside and have an iced tea or something?” Dock asked, “It’s hot as hell out here and I know I need to cool off.” He swiped a hand across his face and left a smudge of blackberry juice across his cheek.

Leo’s heart was pounding, what was it about this place, this man?

“You coming?” Dock asked.

“Huh?”

Dock laughed, “You coming inside or you just gonna stare at the ground the rest of the day?”
Leo was still staring at the spot where Dock had been standing. Something was happening inside his head. He felt spellbound and excited. He didn’t know where this sensation came from, all he knew was he wanted more of what he was feeling. He followed Dock, who was still talking about black berries, the sun and something else that sounded perfect, into the restaurant. When Dock stopped suddenly by a booth at the back of the restaurant, Leo almost crashed into him.

“Take a seat. I’ll be right back with some tea.” Dock said, a smile lingered on his lips.
He knows he makes me uncomfortable, Leo thought once Dock left and was sitting down. It was this realization that held him glued to the seat. He wouldn’t give this man the satisfaction of getting the better of him.

“So, what’s your name?” Dock asked when he reappeared and set a jam jar full of iced tea in front of Leo, there were several blackberries floating in it along with some ice and a sprig of mint.

“Leo,” he replied, taking a sip of the tea.

“You know we’re closed, right?” A woman’s voice called from behind Dock’s perfect shoulders. Leo decided right then and there he would trade his ability to beat an egg for a chance to touch those shoulders and kiss the freckles that lived there.

What was he thinking?

He wasn’t thinking, that was just it, there was something about the place and, more noticeably, about this man that seemed to block Leo’s ability to think rationally. Where there was once thought, there was now an incredible amount of feeling. He was stunned into a stupor by this realization.

Sizzling Hot!

Wow, get ready for a nice Cold shower after this hot read. The story was addicting immediately from the first page as I learn all about Amber being promised to an Alpha Leader “Hunter” from another pack. The authors writing will have you glued to the pages and begging for more in the end.

The story develops into turmoil of true loyalty to one’s Alpha “Hunter”, one’s first Heat (Amber’s), and one’s love toward a mating bond (Tru’s friendship vs. Duty of an Alpha”Hunter”). Amber finds herself conflicted with her true feelings between the powerful Alpha and his second “Tru”. Sexy, sweet, sensitive, and handsome Tru is everything Amber has dreamed of finding in a mate and Hunter’s sexy and handsome Dominate nature makes her want to submit just from his stare.

The erotic scenes are extremely hot; you will get a ménage with Amber between Hunter and Tru, anal sex, spanking, blowing, eating, and double entry. Amber wants both the were-wolf’s to be her mates but a Triad has never been done before. However, once mated the three can never be apart and their love only grows stronger each day as Amber’s Heat takes control over their hearts and starts the mate bonding that the boys can’t resist.

Great Story! The ending was perfect ending in a first Triad in a pack. I look forward to reading more about the wolf pack and the necessity to survive by getting along with the other creatures of the night in this series.

They learn the collies are needed to help seven children with the grief of losing a parent in Iraq or Afghanistan. Now, with seven friends, four collie yearlings and their mother, they set out to help the children.

Not far away a mother hopefully leads her seven puppies to safety from a man intent on selling them for illicit purposes.

By a miracle of fate the two mother collies find each other right before the man sells the puppies.

That Christmas morning will be one the children will remember all their lives and they are united with the puppies.

As a side note, I will be donating a portion of the royalties from this book to the collie rescue group where I found the original Kebi.

MY REVIEW:

Heart-Warming!

A very heartwarming story that is perfect to read during the Christmas season. A story that reminds us of the harsh times that children go through after losing their parents to a war and how they cope with their feelings. Sometimes the best therapy a person can get to help them heal is the unconditional love and devotion of a loyal pet instead of a licensed physician.

You may tear up at the end as Kebi and her twin sister Sasha introduce Sasha's pups to a group of kids who end up being the pups new owners. It is truly amazing how the pups pick their own owners to match their own personalities. I was so glad the author listed the kid and the pup they ended up with. It was so sweet.

Creatively Written!

Ok so I am smiling from ear to ear as I think about this awesome story. I have to say this is such a creative story taking the mid-evil time characters such as Merlin, Arthur, his Knights, and the Lady of Avalon and reincarnating them into today’s current time especially since they end up in VEGAS BABY! LOL, I totally loved it.

The story gets interesting from the first page explaining how Drake - Merlin the Wizard was long ago cursed by a woman he was once madly in love with named Nimue. Nimue seduced Merlin into teaching her everything she knows and then she betrays him by cursing him and taking all his powers from him leaving only his memories as he reincarnates into the future for eternity. Nimue then becomes known as the Goddess of Weaponry.

To make things more interesting, Nimue is bored and decides she wants to rid of Merlin for good and she sets out to kill off his soul for good, however to do that she takes revenge against the people he cares about and in this case it is his ex-girlfriend Merci Tramaine – a direct descendant of Morgan le Fay. Nimue gets more than she can bargain for when she goes up against Merci because what she doesn’t count on is the power of Love as Merci hones in on her powers from the dark side to fight against her and break the curse over Merlin.

I loved Merlin’s character and loved how you turned him into a hansom hunk with a great body and a wild passionate side that was insatiable especially when it came to Merci. Their erotic scenes are steaming hot.

In such a short story the plot thickens deeper as it brings in Arthur (King Arthur) who so happens to operate Templar Security and Investigations, a job Arthur and his Knights is all too familiar with of righting wrongs. They may not have their round table in this modern day time but they still heed that Robin Hood mentality.

I loved the ending as the plot comes to its climax and the twist of the faiths regarding Merlin and Merci. I loved seeing the appearance of other characters such as Viviane - the Lady of Avalon in her skimpy short skirt, Lancelot still looking young and hansom and still living on the Mist of Avalon, and of course knowing where Excalibur is hidden had me laughing out loud. This was such an enjoyable fun read and I look forward to reading more into this series. I am a true fan of Shannan Albright.

Absolutely beautiful story that left the sweetest impression on my heart! The erotic romance between Sandra and Jerrod Ross will have your libido running wild seeking your own pleasure. This is one short story I will never forget, the writing is smooth, the characters connected immediately, and the story’s plot climaxed beautifully in the end as it made me all emotional with happy tears in my eyes. This is truly one of those stories you want to last forever, it was very moving - I literally hugged my e-reader. I am definitely a new fan of Karyn Gerrard and look forward to reading more of her work.

Captivating & Hot!

Wow, not only was this story captivating, it had extremely HOT erotic scenes. The world building in the Shadow World was very interesting leaving me wanting to know more of this mysterious world. Actually there were a couple of things in this world that was very intriguing to me. Below are the examples:

1. Jessilynn (Were) speaking to Wolfram (a Dhampyre – half-human/half-vampire who was bitten by a Thrope Were-Wolf)

“There are three types of Wolfen creatures in the Shadow World. At the top of the Hierarchy are Thropes, wolf shape-shifters.” “Below them is Lycans. They are rare and nearly extinct. They also wolf shape-shifters but have Were tendencies, such as shifting into a Were during the new moon. Then there is us, the Weres. We turn during the full moon. We are the serfs to the other two, the drones.

You have to be born a Thrope or a Lycan but Weres are made. Only a Thrope can make a Were, Lycans or Weres typically can’t.”

2. Desiree (Zombi) speaking to Lucius (1/4 Vampire – (Dhampyre – half-vampire/half-human father mated with human)) explaining to him the difference between a Z-O-M-B-I and a Zombie.

“The Zombi is subject to the black Magic power of the Bokor or master. Without any will of their own, the Zombi must do as the master commands them, a kind of undead servitude until they are released and allowed to rest. We have a mind connection with the Bokor. I am an Astral. I have some semblance of a soul remaining and a small fraction of free will but there is nothing free about it. The Bokor is aware of my every thought, every move.”

I really enjoyed this read, the connection between the characters were very intense sexually which left me with a very intriguing vision that my mind’s sexual craving starved for. The plot climaxed slowly towards the end but left me with many questions of what would happen next even though Lucius finds his mate Trevina (Human hairdresser) and Wolfram ending up with his mate Jessilynn (Feisty Were). I literally ate this story up and hope that the author continues it into a series – there is so many directions she can take this in a series.

Wow, Skriker fans get ready to get your mind blown by our deliciously hot Demon God. Not only is this a hot BDSM read but it is full proof of the love between Skriker and Rose. Rose gives Skriker a birthday wish he only dreams of by totally submitting herself to him and under his control for the whole weekend. My eyes were literally glued to the page with my tongue hanging out drooling over the pages and I couldn’t read it fast enough.

Warning this BDSM is totally graphic and slightly harsh when it comes to mingling pain with pleasure. What you will find in this hot read is Skriker taking Rose sexually by tying her down, flogging, use of nipple clamps, collar and chain with D-Ring, slapping, blind folded, use of hot wax, and anal sex.
I have to say the stories plot was definitely ironic in how Skriker and Rose make their valid point towards their feelings towards each other and the world. By making passionate love with a vengeance in an old abandon church in front of the stoned and pictured glassed windows of angels which totally goes against all sacred godly rules that represents Rose’s heritage.

Skriker and Rose’s point definitely says “Fuck you, Heaven, fuck you, World! It’s just us against you and we don’t give a shit about what you think.”

I totally love the connection between the characters, however I felt that even though Rose submitted to Skriker for the few days just to show she really loved him, it was not enough for me because in the end, he is the one who is more committed to their relationship and wants that happy ever after of marriage and children while Rose still has hang ups dealing with her father and her celestial heritage along with being in love with a demon. Sorry Rose but you need to make a choice or you will lose Skriker.

FAN-FUCKIN-TASTIC HISTORICAL READ!

YES! YES! YES! Natasha Blackthorne, it is authors like you that make historical reads worth reading. I can think of only one other historical read that I have gave a 5 star rating to and that was Diana Gabaldin. You have captured and implemented the substance that makes the characters come alive and interesting with their emotions leaving the reader excited and feeling the emotions themselves. The story was so exciting that I was totally glued to the page eagerly eating up each sentence and just couldn’t put the book down.

I do not read very many historical reads because they usually focus more on the historical side of the story or they lack the full connection between the characters.

However, that is not what you will find in this story. You will find an immediate connection between Beth and Grey from the first moment they meet. Their attraction leads to several extremely hot erotic scenes that leave you craving for more. This is what I love about this read because Natasha Blackthorne wasn’t afraid to take that erotic step that most writers are afraid to put in their books so I applaud Natasha because she made me fall in love with a historical read.

However, there is more to the story than just having sexual scenes in a story and I can definitely tell everyone that the battle for dominance and control between the characters will peak your interest as the rebellion of the feisty and stronger willed independence of a woman (Beth) rebels against the societies ok ways of men having mistresses. No matter how many times Grey tries to bargain for a dominance to keep Beth, Beth puts him in his place and never loses control regardless how attracted she is to him or even how passionate the love making is between them. I totally love Beth, she is my heroine I can totally look up to and relate to.

The ending was perfect as it left me with tears in my eyes as I felt the strong feelings of love between the love birds. I actually wanted more in the end as in I wanted Grey to sweep Beth off her feet and marry her but the ending leaving with the possibility of a courting relationship towards a lifetime of happiness works as well. Now I will be anxiously waiting for the next book to see where Grey and Beth’s relationship takes them.

RONDA: Hi Michelle, thank you so much for being here today and spending some time with our viewers.
MICHELLE:Yay! Thank you for having me. I love doing interviews!
RONDA: Please tell us a little about yourself.
MICHELLE: I saw my first ghost at the age of 4 and have been running scared ever since. I also stole a rock from a real vampire (seriously!) who is probably still looking for me. On top of that, any psychic tendencies I have are dyslexic. Basically, the safest thing for me to do is stay indoors and write what I know: Paranormal.
RONDA: I just read your newest release “Love Potions” and I loved it. Can you give our viewers a little taste of what it is about?

MICHELLE: Love Potions is a whimsical, fast paced love story. The hero and heroine are incompetent, but in different ways. Marion can’t make a love potion to save her life (literally!) and Aidan says the wrong things at the wrong times, which is how he ends up cursed. Between the two of them, madcap calamities ensue along with some scorching love scenes. Marion believes magic will save her and Aidan thinks all he wants is to go back to Fairy. Both of them are wrong.

RONDA: Did someone or something in your life inspire you to write about witches, wizards, and the fey world?
MICHELLE: I’ve always enjoyed reading fantasy, so writing in this genre was a natural extension of that. Also, as you saw in my bio, I’ve had some interesting experiences that have made me realize we don’t know what we don’t know. Fantasy is a great genre for exploring ‘what if.’ I really enjoy that freedom.
RONDA: Is there a favorite character in the story that is your favorite and if so why?
MICHELLE: This is a hard one! I love how Raven says what everyone else is thinking. She’s blunt and you know exactly where you stand, but she still totally has your back.

“You were the one watching Marion on the dance floor, weren’t you?” Raven asked.

Aidan nodded. “There’s something unique about the way your friend dances.”

Raven laughed. “Yeah, it’s called sexual frustration.”

Marion gasped and hissed, “Raven.”

Raven ignored her. “You see, Marion’s my roommate and she never goes out. She sits at home and blows up love potions in ratty old sweat pants. I can’t take it anymore. She’s ruining my love life. Since you seem interested, I thought I’d facilitate a conversation.”

I also really like Dougal. He’s the kind of friend we all deserve, unwaveringly loyal and a shoulder you can lean on. Plus, he has some useful talents.

Marion reached out and touched Dougal’s cheek, an expression of wonder on her face. “How did you do that?”
“Magic,” Dougal said.
“What kind of magic, exactly? I’ve heard of transformation spells and illusions, but this is something different.” She poked her twin in the arm.
“Fay shape shifters have their own magic.”
“It’s better than anything I’ve seen. Would you mind standing up?”
Dougal did as she asked with a good-natured smile. Marion walked around him, awe turning to clouded disappointment. “Does my ass really look like that?”

RONDA: I loved all the characters such as the other witches at the school, the Queen and her guards, the pixie, the shape-shifter, and the siren. I would love to read more about them. Will you be turning this into a series?
MICHELLE: I would like to do more stories with these characters, especially since readers have been asking me what happened to Raven and the Queen. I think a Raven story would be fun. I have some ideas a la a paranormal version of The Hangover, but it’s not an active project yet.
RONDA: Can you give us a little idea about what you are working on next?
MICHELLE: Up next is an Urban Fantasy called Crime Bites about a psychic FBI agent and the vampires out for her blood. Where Love Potions is a humor-with-heat novella, Crime Bites is darker and, being novel length, the story has more depth. It’s in the final editing stages now and the cover and excerpt are up on my blog.

Beyond that, I have a contemporary erotica novella in the final editing stages as well and a non-fiction project titled 40% Psychic, 60% Wrong about the intersection of my life and the science of parapsychology. If that interests anyone, definitely check out my blog as I’ve been conducting ESP experiments with my husband. It’s been quite amusing.

Every once in a while I may read a story and a song comes to mind and in this case this awesome short story reminded me of the first phrase in the song called “Can’t get enough of your love” by Bad Company because Andrija and Teigen’s desires were insatiable.
